It almost seems that those lines are heat shrunk onto the fittings. There's a vacuum line that needs to be disconnected but the line is hard plastic it would seem that it would need to be cut off, is that correct. I've got the official MB CD maintenance manual and to remove the MAF requires removing the entire air filter box, which wouldn't be too difficult if it weren't for two items. The official message for the P0170 fault code is Bank 1 Fuel Trim malfunction, searching the archives the typical reason for the fault code is the MAF sensor needs cleaning or replacement. The check engine light (CEL) recently illuminated on my 2004 C230 Sport Coupe, it has the 1.8 liter Kompressor engine.
